Why do this?

Sometime mid to late July 2010, Andy Scott and Ste’ Hall will be embracing the adventure known as the Bar Yar Coast-to-Coast Cycle Challenge. It covers over 300 miles from Barmouth (Wales) to Great Yarmouth (East Anglia), perhaps even taking in Stourbridge along the route! Ste’ will be setting the pace, accompanying and maybe even pulling the pedalling Pastor along towards the end!

As a warm up to the cycle ride, on Saturday 3rd July, the running Reverend will be pounding a 13.1 mile canal towpath in the Birmingham Black Country Half Marathon which begins in Wolverhampton and ends in Birmingham. If he falls in the canal, he hopes someone will have thought to bring a fishing net large enough to fetch him out! He hopes to complete the race under 2 hours and set a new ‘personal best’!

So why are we planning these mad pursuits? We are hoping to raise significant funds for three very worthy initiatives:

1. Hanbury Hill Baptist Church, Stourbridge. www.hanburyhill.org.uk. Monies donated will go into the future development of our church and its work in the community.

2. Brierley Hill Project, near Stourbridge. www.brierleyhillproject.org.uk. Aiming to support their community through community cohesion, leisure activities, health awareness, learning opportunities, volunteer teams and social action projects.

3. Early Childhood Centre, Kampala, Uganda. www.africarenewal.org. A pre-school linked to Gaba Community Church, taking up to 50 of the most vulnerable children in the community, aged 12 months to 3 years, whose families cannot provide basic provisions and are unable to care for them.

All donations received will be shared between these three initiatives. Many thanks for your generous support! Making a donation through CharityGiving is simple. charitygiving.co.uk is operated by The Dove Trust, a charity with over 26 years experience of helping individuals, charities and good causes globally, so your giving is safe and secure.

CharityGiving will reclaim gift aid tax on your donation (if you are a UK taxpayer), meaning any donation is worth around 25% more. They also charge less than other fundraising websites, so more money goes to these three great causes.
